Canadian Ski Quest – Red Mountain

Canadian Ski Quest at Red Mountain - Rossland, BCRossland is nestled deep in the West Kootenay’s of Southern British Columbia and is known for its elevated beauty, unassuming charm and a golden past.  Red Mountain sits high in the Monashee Mountains at an elevation of 1,023 meters.  With a population of under 4,000, no traffic lights or sprawling malls, the City of Rossland bustles in the winter snow-covered houses, festive special events, and powder-seeking, goggle-tanned locals and visitors.  If your seeking a destination with hilly streets, loads of snow, great views and an alpine setting, this winter holiday vacation is for you!
Red Mountain, which is only four kilometers from downtown, is blessed with snowfalls that exceed 750 centimeters per year.  In town, the annual snowfall averages 370 centimeters. Although there is snow in Rossland a month longer than in nearby valleys, the climate is gentle. Rarely are winter days colder than -10 C and the average high is 3 C. Often above the clouds, Rossland receives about 2,000 hours of sunshine per year and windy days are rare.
The Rossland Canadian Ski Quest program consists of six days of skiing, five of which are instructional days. Saturday is the arrival and departure day for all programs. Sunday is the orientation day and the improvement camp runs from Monday to Friday. On Sunday the Canadian Ski Quest Staff will ski with the entire group for a couple of hours. This is where you will have the chance to meet your fellow participants and some of your instructors.

Canadian Ski Quest – Rossland & Revelstoke Tour

Canadian Ski Quest at Revelstoke, BCCanadian Ski Quest is skiing Revelstoke!  Our “Red-Stoke Tour” blends the traditional (Red Mountain) with the leading edge.  Revelstoke Mountain Resort is one the most exciting developments ever in North American skiing.  In its second year of operation, Revelstoke already boasts the highest vertical drop in North America, a previous Whistler accolade.  And as if to keep up the standard of the terrain, Revelstoke Mountain Resort has to date invested over $100,000,000 into lifts and infrastructure.  Vertical challenge, a state of the art lift system, and the fact that it is all happening now!  Revelstoke is an exciting place to ski in 2011.

On a personal note; Revelstoke is a special place for me.  I have skied and ski raced there since I was 13 years old and I have spent many summers working in Revelstoke in the forestry industry.  My experience though, is prior to this transformation.  Even then Revelstoke was a sizable, locals oriented hill with a strong ski racing program.  Skiing in Revelstoke as a young racer, I was always aware of the enormous potential of the place as an epic destination resort.  The 4000-5000 vertical feet of steepness above the top lift station that eventually led into the alpine always inspired my skiing spirit.  It eventually inspired developers of the Resort as well.  Now that the potential of the place is realized, I am thrilled to be able to bring a Canadian Ski Quest tour to Revelstoke.
