The Grand Tour
The Canadian Ski Quest Grand Tour Mar. 2 - 7, 2025 $2880 plus GST ($3024) based on double occupancy. Tour inclusions: Five days skiing Five night accommodation Transportation In resort ski guiding Organized Apres Activities and Dining Where: Two days skiing at Apex Mountain Resort Two nights at Apex Mountain Resort Two days skiing at Silver Star Resort Two nights accommodation at Silver Star Resort One night accommodation at Sparkling Hills Resort in Vernon One day skiing at Big White Resort Details: Day One; March 2; Travel to Apex Mountain Resort: We depart Rossland at 10:00 AM and take our time driving to Apex Mountain Resort. This is a four hour, 300 km, drive. We will stop in Greenwood (1.5 hours). Then we drive another 1 hour 15 minutes to Osoyoos BC where we will have lunch. From Osoyoos it is another 1 hour 15 minutes to Apex Mountain Resort. After we check in to The Apex Mountain Lodge and freshen up we will head to the famous Gunbarrel Saloon for dinner. Fun Fact: The Gun Barrel Saloon at Apex was voted by the Ski Canada magazine readership as the #1 Apres Ski Bar in Canada 10 times in a row! After our Gin Barrel experience we will have to have an informed debate on the merits of The Gunbarrel at Apex vs Rafters at Red Mountain, also a Ski Canada magazine Apres winner. Day Two; March 3; Ski Apex: I love Apex Mountain. I first skied Apex as a 14 year old Ski Racer. Apex was the ski area circuit favorite for the Silver Star Ski Team. I have skied Apex somewhat regularly throughout my Ski Instructing career. Apex is reminiscent of the Red Mountain skiing experience, it is smaller than Red Mountain, but the level of skiing challenge is similar. Here are some stats: Green terrain: 12%, Blue Terrain: 34% Black: 54%. Like Red, Apex is my kind of mountain. Click here for a trail map link. Dinner at Longshots Steakhouse is sure to be memorable. Day Three; March 4; Ski Apex, Travel to Silver Star: Further Apex exploration. There is always another challenge here, two days will give us just a taste of this resort's full potential. After skiing we will travel to Silver Star Mountain Resort, a 2.5 to 3 hour drive, stopping in either Kelowna or Vernon for dinner. At Silver Star we are staying slopeside at the Snowbird Lodge. Day 4; March 5; Ski Silver Star: Ahh Silver Star, my home Ski Area. I grew up skiing here and know the mountain intimately (except for the Silver Woods area which I look forward to exploring together with you). Silver Star is a great place to let your skis run fast. The snow and the grooming at Silver Star are the reference point and standard that other Canadian resorts strive for. But if the steep vibe is still flowing from our Apex days, Silver Star has many challenging options in the Putnam Creek area. Click here for a link to the Silver Star Trail Map. Day 5; March 6; Ski Silver Star, Travel to Sparkling Hills Resort and Spa: Day 2 to cruise or rip all that Silver Star has to offer. We will ski at Silver Star until early to mid afternoon, depending on the snow conditions and our leg conditions. We then travel 45 minutes to Sparkling Hill Resort. This is the GRAND TOUR after all! Sparkling Hill is a spectacular adult-only wellness resort. Each room includes a shower, soaker tub, floor to ceiling windows, and custom Sparkling Hill wellness beds. Each guest is given a plush robe, slippers and towels for use in the 40000 sq. ft. KurSpa. Our skiing efforts will be rewarded here with the rejuvenating experience of Sparkling Hill, Dinner at Gerni’s Farmhouse will be memorable. Day 6; March 7; Travel to Big White, Ski Big White, Travel to Rossland: Revived, we will leave Sparkling Hill Resort early and travel to Big White Resort, (1 hour 20 minutes) for our fifth and final day of skiing. Big White is the biggest resort on the Grand Tour, Big White boasts 16 lifts and nearly 8000 skiable acres. Click here for a Big White Trail Map. There is so much to explore at Big White. Our time here is short but we will get as much as we can out of this day. It is a 3.5 hour drive from Big White back to Rossland. Our aim will be to start driving at 3:00 and to stop in Grand Forks at the Oasis Restaurant for dinner at 5:30. From here it is just over an hour's drive to Rossland.
